Out and About
March 24, 2008 · Leave a Comment
Over the past few week I have been out and about in Warwick Road, Saughall Massie Lane, The Limes, Larcombe Avenue, Warwick Road, The Woodlands, Heath Drive, South Drive and many more roads. I have been asking residents what concerns them most and ways in which they think we can tackle the problems together. Again the most prominent issue is Anti Social Behaviour, whether it be litter, graffiti, speeding, inconsiderate parking, drunken youths shouting abuse to more serious incidents such as, setting fire to fences, damaging cars, and throwing bricks at property.
I am on top of all your issues and working with agencies to try and get matters resolved. If you have a problem you think I should know about please get in touch.

Wirral is the worse place in England for alcohol related hospital admissions
March 19, 2008 · Leave a Comment
Shocking figures reveal that Wirral has the highest amount of alcohol induced hospital admissions in the country. Of all the hospital admissions in Wirral, 3.76% were alcohol related – compared to a national average of just 1.60%.
This is draining our NHS resources and shows a serious lack of judgement on behalf of the government to continue with 24 hour drinking.
Alcohol related crime is also on the up and its about time we have a proactive approach to tackle binge drinking, especially among the young.

ANOTHER example of Anti Social Behaviour

Residents in Sandfield Road and the surrounding area are taunted by drunken youths. One resident told me she had her car vandalised, abuse shouted at her and one of her children threatened with violence, each Friday night its the same. She is now that sick of it that she is considering moving.
I am delivering a survey to residents, throughout Upton, to find out their views on anti social behaviour, where the hotspots are and ways they think we should tackle the problem. If you have any further examples of incidents please get in touch.

Council Cuts
March 8, 2008 · Leave a Comment
Labour/Lib Dem councillors have voted 77 cuts from your services. However, they still find the money to vote themselves a ‘pay rise.’ The people of Wirral pay £33.5 million in additional fees and charges on top of an extra 3.5% increase in council tax this year.

Your Labour Councillors have voted themselves a PAY RISE
March 3, 2008 · 2 Comments
Labour and Lib Dems have voted themselves a 1.9% pay rise out of YOUR Council Tax money. The Conservative Group on Council did not vote for this increase. This is absolutely disgraceful. With council tax set to rise above inflation again this year and with redundancies on the cards its good to know Upton’s Labour Councillors are looking out for themselves.
With Services across Wirral facing cuts, the Labour led group wishes to employ two new officers at a cost of £200 000 a year. I cannot believe that council employees are at risk of redundancies and the Labour led group wish to employ more staff; its ludicrous.
I WOULD NEVER VOTE FOR A PAY INCREASE WHEN COUNCIL STAFF ARE THREATENED WITH REDUNDANCY.
